My friend needs to find an LED light strip for his new outdoor built-in BBQ. Something that can be cut to length and plugged in to an outlet. Any ideas?

Steve, your post might be lacking in details a bit :)
Depending on your needs, I would look into a 5050 smd led solution with a power supply on ebay. Probably a silicone jacket waterproof version, but if you cut it to length you will need to seal it back up again.

If you need something brighter you are going to need a custom solution.

How bright? How much?

Look at your grocer freezer section- LED light strips are in there made by Sylvania, GE, or Phillips. Nice prices too....

SMD5050, IP67 or IP68 is a good choice.
The guys from LEDlightsworld have 150leds and 300leds per reel( 5meters/reel) for choose.
They accept custom made to your length with no additional charge.

NO!

Bought some strips from them (both 12V and 120V and both warm and cool white) 2 years back and they have all dimmed to the point of being completly unusable. They were a complete waste of money as the dimming was OBVIOUS when comparing an unused unit with one that had been in use for ~8 hrs / day even after 2 months.

I probably still have some sitting around that I could take pics of if you want proof..

I would like to see that. I have several of them but haven't run them as constantly as yours.

No problem - I took the pictures but I don't have hosting. Can you host them for me? send me a PM and I'll email them to you if you can.
