I currently have an older Rayovac 1 watt and just ordered a SacredFire $14 (after shipping) Cree LED light with a Cree XR-C (claims 200 lumens, sure) to test out. It takes 3 AAA's batteries in a holder. wish I didnt have to wait 5 months to get the 1.6volt Powergenix batteries though!
I wanted suggestions on a cheaper but good light for long throw to have a nice spot beam or adjustable beam. I looked at some on ebay for $21 that cliamed 275 lumem even though I know thats false. they have a fisheye lens and Cree XR-E 7090 Q5 LED. I almost ordered it until someone who bought a few different ones told me it wasnt as bright as one of the 200 lumen lights the guy sells. I liked the focusable lens though so I could have flood and spot both. But will it get decent range, I dont know.
