I found these cables at Cyberguys (search for usb led). Wow!!! it's like Christmas all year-round. These are fairly standard USB 2.0 cables, but they have clear ends with an LED in the plastic. The colors are very bright, especially in the dark.
The cables seem to work fine in both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 mode, but unfortunately they will not work with my external, portable USB 2.0 hard drive. The hard drive that I use demands all of the power it can get from the USB 2.0 bus, when I plug it into one of these cables, it is recognized as a USB 1.1 device by Windows XP, and will only work at that speed.
