We're not looking at A19 bulbs. We're looking at all inclusive PIR/motion sensor outdoor flood lights, like the Utilitech pictured. The newest ones at LowesDepot are an improvement to what was available last year. Both the Lowes and the HomeDepot lights now mention Cree LEDs(XPE's, XPG's...).
If you do look for 30 or 38 sized bulbs or A19/A21, for outdoor retrofitting, make sure that they mention outdoor as many LED bulbs are for indoor/open fixtures.
I have old motion/security double-par38 over the garage doors, side of house and yard lighting.... I replaced a couple of the burnt out bulbs with PAR38 LED's last winter. I do appreciate the instant on full power, compared to CFL. But, the beam/output is a little lacking. Since the classic double-par38 motion sensor fixtures are cheap & ugly(even when new), I have a feeling that I'll be picking up several of the Lowes or HomeDepot lights. They just look "The Jetsons" good and finally have the 'output' of a couple PAR38's. I was under impressed by the 1373lm and lm/w from last year. 1700-2100lm is more like it!!!!!
