Hey everyone, I've been looking into getting a pico projector. All you LED pros on this forum I thought I would ask here - have any of you had experience with this type of projector? I am looking at either the Optoma PK101 or the AAXA P1 Micro projector. I'm leaning towards the AAXA because it has higher resolution and is cheaper:

For $239 (or $349) what do you guys think? Worth it? Or should I wait for a second generation product?

Only 12 lumens which makes it only suitable for perfektly dark rooms.
640x480 is a pretty low resultion - not even enough for web browsing.
Watching tv should be okay, though.

I would wait a little more till some better products hit the market.

That 800x600 one looks pretty cool but a bit bulky! I think I want something that I can throw into my laptop bag, not sure if that cube would work...

I thought 640x480 resolution on the AAXA P1 was good? There's some other ones out there, like the Optoma or Samsung ones that are only 320x280 or something!! Isn't regular TV 640x480?

Anybody ever modify one of these to use a brighter LED, like a Cree? I'm getting one this week, would love to hear from anybody that's torn one apart.

That is difficult to do. An LCD projector showing pure white passes less than half the source light, and the optics to project sharply are tricky. Changing light sources can fuzz it up.
