LED PR2 bulb for a NiMH-powered light?

This is probably a dumb question, but would a LED-based PR2 bulb work well in a NiMH-powered flashlight? I know LEDs are kinda squirrelly about voltage if they aren't regulated, which a plain old replacement PR2 setup would be.

Technology Associates' PR based 3 volt LED would work fine with NiMH cells. The 3 volt LED is effective down to .7 volts. The reduced voltage of the NiMH would hardly be perceptible.
