How much difference does an LED's viewing angle have on the final lens beam viewing angle?

The specs on CREE XP-G is 125° and XP-G2 is 115°, a 10° difference. Assuming the same flashlight and lens, will there be a viewing angle difference?

Thanks. Jake.

It depends on what you mean by viewing angle. The LED inside a reflector is visible whenever there is unobstructed line of sight between you and the LED itself, or its reflections. The spot inside the reflector is generally based on several complex optical factors. The intensity of this spot changes with different viewing angles, but I wouldn't expect the size of it to change since the whole reflector is usually lit.

1. CREE XP-G2 is 115° and XP-G is 125°.
2. The result of tighter beam angle in XP-G2 is more concentrated hotspot and better throw.
