In a week and a half I'm off to dive the mighty Mikhail Lermontov.
This is a Russian cruise liner that sank in Port Gore at the top of the South Island of New Zealand 25 or so years ago.
She's a pretty big ship and lies in about 38 meters. Water temp is about 12-13 deg C and vis is usually quite poor but can be very good at times.
This will be my 1st dive trip using my rEvo rebreather and I'm hoping for some long run times and some chances to take some cool photos.
For the trip I will be taking my ring of light macro camera lighting system, my SST-90 W300 can light, MC-E W300 can light, P7 W200 3 mode Aspheric XR-E W200. My buddies will also have 2 quad aspheric mags, the video light system I recently finished plus a few other W200 mods I have made.
Feeling like I dont have quite enough light for such a trip I decided to build another from which moment forward I shall call the Leningrad.
The Leningrad lounge is a restaurant fairly deep inside the wreck which I managed to penetrate last time I was there. This was a sphincter factor 9 dive!
Anyway, I wanted a small form light that would run for a long time, be very reliable and give off a decent amount of light.
This will be my emergency if all else fails light that I can fit inside my drysuit pocket.
What I decided on was W200 light head with a custom made body that will take a single 18650.
The pill is a XP-G P60 with an extension tube to suit the W200 head. I removed the driver and installed a 3 mode ( 100% 10% strobe) AMC7135 3 chip (1050ma) driver instead. This should give me 3+ hours of light on high mode ( 1st 1.5hour or so at full then a gradual decrease in light)
