LF2XT over discharge protection problems.

I'm using this flashlight on the compact user interface. I've made sure that the over discharge protection is enabled by pressing 4C+PH until it flashes twice quickly. But it doesn't work! It is always over discharging my 10440 cells. If I put a low cell back in my old LF2X the over discharge protection kicks in and the flashlight turns off. But with this LF2XT it will discharge the battery to nothing. It's wrecking my 10440's. What's wrong?
