Kindly donated to me a few weeks back by Elektrolumens, I tried this white 1-watt Lambertian High Dome Luxeon with both new optics and old optics and was unsatisfied with the results, as it was pretty much duplicating what I had found with an earlier Lambertian, also from Wayne.

And then as I was assembling the run of 1-watt LGI Shorties it dawned on me that I might want to try the High Dome with the larger reflector of the Legend LX -- and so I did. Here it is sitting on top of an LX:

And here it is nestled down inside the cutout of the LX's aluminum reflector:

So I then put it up against a couple of similar 1-watt Luxeon lights, the Tuxedo and the Arc-SLS:

And finally the beamshots:

Notice how tight and bright the LX's reflector focuses the blue-white beam, and how intense it appears compared to the diffused beams of the other two.

So we sallied forth on to light meter testing:

Arc -- 247 lux

Tuxedo -- 352 lux

High Dome Shorty -- 561 lux

The Lambertian finally finds a home...and it's focusable.

p.s.,I assume that the Tuxedo mod (in the center of the photo) has a similar output to the much vaunted LGI??

DarkG, yeah for some reason the LX reflector was just the right size. Mags were too large, Minimags and AA Legends, too small. Go figger.

vcal, naw, I wish. The Tuxedo is the brightest 2AA mod I've ever seen, making around 350 lux from one meter (for example, the brightest Arc-LS "mistake run" 500ma, out of quite a few examples that I was lucky enough to have held in my hands and personally tested, made 345 lux), but the average LGI makes at least 600 lux. So no comparison there, but this Lambertian is very close at 561, although in a tightly focused spot...

that is nice. too bad that the mag reflector is too large for optimal results.

could anyone post a beam comparison of a ld 1w and a hd 1w (whites) in a d cell mag reflector? i have been using ld's and have been *very* heppy with the results, but if the hd's are brighter, with a similar or better beam pattern (round, smooth...) that would be my preference i think.
