i just got some single ic's charging for li-ion after my cheap charger blow up, and after testing and by the datasheet, they cut the charging at c/10 of the charging current.
i was testing with 800mah, 520mah, 2200mah and others li-ion and li-poly batteries.
one thing i noticed, after the charger cut-off, the voltage of the li-ion drops proportional of the charging current.
like if i charge a 800mah battery at 400ma, when the charger end at 4.20v the battery voltage falls to 4.16v. if the battery is 400mah, the voltage fall to 4.14v, 4.15v
if i use the 100ma charger in this 400mah battery, after the 4.20v cut-off it goes to 4.18v. if i charge the 2200mah battery at 100mah, it keeps 4.20v after charged.
so, the lower the current when charging, the higher the voltage of the battery goes after disconnected
so, my question: ending charge at c/10 its not too soon? i know, charging "95%" lets say, will make batteries last longer, but even than, i would prefer using all battery capacity.
if i recall, ive seen some charging graphs, and some chargers go lower than c/10, something like c/20, c/40 or c/100 before cut-off.
any thoughts?
