Life was easier before I found this forum! I had my 1979 Streanlight SL20 and a SF G2 and that was it, there were no problems on which light to take out at night, now way too many choices and more coming. The G2 stayed in my truck and the Sl20 in the house so easy then. Many mornings in the dark feeding livestock with the SF G2, never a problems at all even with the 0+ temps, it was more than enough to do the job., Now its which one to take !! So far my Olight M20.

I know what your saying. It's the same for me. Dam near getting to the point where I'm late to where I going because I can't decide which light to take with me.

"A man with one watch knows what time it is; a man with two watches is never quite sure."

I guess you're like the man with two watches!

The man with one watch has no idea if his watch is correct; the man with two watches is at least in a position to make an educated guess. Two is one and one is none.

It is interesting how this place changes The way you look at lights.

I knew very little about the various available led lights before finding this place but I've found out so much.

When I first came on here a few weeks back I wondered why people spent so much on flashlights when an ultrafire '800 lumem' torch cost's only £10. After reading on here I found myself buying decent lights left, right and centre! I now understand why my '800 lumen' ultrafire was £10, I found that out as soon as I turned on my measily 305 lumen Fenix PD31 and it blew it away!

My mrs also found life easier before I came on here... She used to be able to get ready for work, now she finds herself answering the door at inconvinient moments signing for parcels for me.

Ain that the truth.

I went from the POV of my needs and wants versus 'cool'.

Also cost.

I found two that fit the bill. One for EDC and general use and one that would be the one to feed the cows with on a dark, cold morning [[in your case-no cows here anymore.]]

+2 on this. I still remember when all I needed was my Streamlight XT HP for duty and Nuwaii Q3 as backup. Now I just have too much to choose from to EDC. I've stepped backwards and cut down my collection a bit upon sitting down to decide what was more important in a light that I'd use regularly.

I agree, however I think the dilemma the OP faces is "which two?"
If the OP has the money, my suggestion is to skip the aluminum lights and get a pair of McGizmos -- a Haiku for general flashlight duties, and a Mule for close-up/photography work. Both lights are available in 1- or 2-cell configurations, with a choice of XP-G cool, XP-G warm, XM-L cool, or Nichia 119 Hi-CRI emitters. The price tag for that setup is in the vicinity of $800, but the OP will never need another flashlight again, and they're durable enough to outlast his grandkids.

That was my experience with my knife "hobby", deciding which knife to take. After several years, it has been narrowed down to only a couple. Right now I only own a few flashlights, so my choices are between the Surefire e1b or Jetbeam RRt-0 Raptor for edc. I have a couple of larger lights that don't get carried every day. Looking forward to more!

I agree. Not just with flashlights but with almost everything. Too many choices today. It is hard to remain still.
