I already have my share of CR123 lights, plus a few usinf non conventional hi miliamp batteries. Now I need something really good, that runs on AAA, AA or C cell. reason being, I need a couple of lights for my federal DMAT deployment gear. I was going to throw a couple Surefires in there, but I can be deployed for up to 2 weeks, in areas that may not have power to recharge my batteries, or with limited stores open, so regular old batteries will have to suffice. Figure a AA type to carry and a C cell type to pack.

Any good ideas?

How about a good C Maglite mod and a good 2 AA light?

A few 2 AA lights to look at:
Nitecore D20
Fenix TK20
Fenix LD20
Olight T25
Olight I25
Jetbeam Jet I EX (search around)
iTP C8

1xAA light - Zebralight H501 with neutral tint emitter (headlamp)
2xAA light - Eagletac P10A2 with neutral tint emitter
3xC light - Maglite 3C with Malkoff dropin

I love my (NDI) NiteCore Defender Infinity!!!!

It can run on rechargeable Lithium 14500's when you got them and when you don't you can use a regular AA Alkaline battery and it's still pretty bright.

For me it works perfect as an emergency/back-up flashlight due to the fact that it gives you a pretty bright high and you can program it to have a pretty low low plus you have strobe if you need it but it's not easy to activate accidentally.

1 x AAA - Fenix L0D/LD01
1 x AA - Nitecore D10, Nitecore EZ AA, JetBeam CL-E v2, ITP C7T, Lumapower Conexxion X2 (1 or 2 AA), Zebralight H50 or H501
2 x AA - Nitecore D20, Maglite MiniMag Rebel Multi-Mode, ITP C8T, Lumapower Conexxion X2 (1 or 2 AA)
2 x C - Lowes Taskforce 2C

For 1 x AAA: Fenix LD01 - dont think you can go far wrong with this one, simple 3 mode twisty and surprisingly bright and durable too. Grab a pack of AAAs and you're good to go. For extreme brightness (but correspondingly lower runtimes, go with 10440s. I got 4 x 10440s and back up of 4 x AAA primaries when i travel).

For 1 x AA: I just got me an LED Lenser P5, it is very bright considering its running off a 1.2v NIMH cell, its only one level of light but the kicker is that it can focus! Beautiful flood to a really nice spot, i have some beamshots here. To be fair, i have not tested durability (drop) or waterproofness but it's still a pretty nice light.

Another 1 x AA: The Jetbeam Jet I Pro IBS v2.0, i own this one too and run it off 14500s or 1.2v NIMHs and there is not all that much difference in output that would make a huge real world difference. 3 modes each individually programmable and you never need to see strobe, SOS unless you want to. Its a very tough light too.

For 2 x AAs (i dont own any currently) and above, i am afraid all i have to go on is what i have read, so i shall leave it to the other more experienced members to guide you.
