Hello i was wondering if you guys can recommend me flashlights:

A small compact flashlight that puts out ton of lighting that has a decent run time.

A medium size flashlight that can also be used as a baton type of hitting and will be fine, ton of lighting and decent run time.

A large size flashlight that puts a TON of lighting, 5k + lumens! more the merrier LOL i don't care about run time just be over 30 mins

Its been a while since i been on this forum and the flashlight i currently have is the Fenix tk75 and a couple other flashlights that's not worth mentioning, it would mean a lot if you guys can help with some recommendations, thanks!

You would likely get more results if you could be more specific for each light, a few things like; price range, battery types, size, floody vs thrower, etc. Look at the checklist sticky for ideas. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...hlight-Recommendation-Checklist-Updated-MK-II

Something like the Fenix PD35 might fit your 'small compact'. But for me its a little on the large side for EDC. Check out the Zebralights maybe. This is probably the most popular category so there are quite a few options in this size.

The toughest 'medium' size light I can think of would be the Elzetta. But your idea of medium may be different than mine.

The large one, I have no idea, I think it will vary greatly depending on how much you want to spend, and also if you want a floody vs thrower.

The problem is that its hard to tell what you want...in a way that allows a recommendation.

For example, a "Small compact flashlight" is of indeterminate size...key chain? Less than 6"? Less than 4"? We can't tell.

Same for "medium"

We are not sure what a "Ton" is, and, if its different from a "ton" (The capitalized version is more?) IE: How many lumens or lux is too hard to determine when weight is used to describe them. :)

"Decent" run time has been variously described as at least 5 minutes to at least 5 hours (In other people's posts) ...and the run time you "don't care about" is the ONLY one you gave a spec for (ironically) of over 30 minutes.

The other issue is that w/o a spec, its hard to know what YOUR preferences are between bright and runtime.

For any given power source, these are ALWAYS in competition with each other...as, the brighter, the shorter the runtime.

So, we EITHER need how LONG is long ENOUGH, and then find the brightest light that can sustain that runtime, OR, how many lumens or lux is ENOUGH, so we can find a light with that output with the most runtime.

As we have nothing at all to base a guess on, and can't even guess as to what cells would fit into the lights of unknown size, its about impossible to give relevant guesses....except by coincidence. (Hence the lack of responses)

Perhaps list the lights by dimensions and or how many cells of each type to give at least a RANGE that might apply...

..and list the lumens and lux, or, at least what each light needs to do for you as far as how much light at what kind or range.

As you did give one spec, 30 + minutes of tons of merriment, I'd say to look at the X60vn (Vinh's sub-forum on this site).

:D

Typically really small and really bright and good run times don't go together - you can only have one or two of the three items. And not sure what you consider small or bright. You might look at an EagleTac D25C XML2U2 clicky with a rechargable LiIon 16340 battery. It's tiny and puts out 750 led lumens but not for very long. A Zebralight SC52 with a 14500 rechargable battery will give a 1 minute burst of 500 lumens which is also really bright for its size. But tiny lights can't dissipate enought heat or carry enough energy to be really bright for very long.

CPF doesent permit the discussion of flashlights as physical weapons so no one will be able to address your second point.

I don't have a lot of knowledge in super bright flashlights but I see some offered by Vinh over in the modders forum that get to those output levels. My brightest light is an EagleTac SX25L3 which is a 3x18650 light with 2700 LED lumens. Great light but still nowhere near 5000 lumens you are looking for.

Thanks for replying and happy new years to you!

When i mean decent run time = 40mins +........

For the compact flashlight i would think of a light that is under 4 inches long.....

Medium Flashlight being over 7 inches and under 9.5 inches

Large Flashlight = Anything that will be super bright over 3.5k lumens and be decent quality.

Can you suggest me a pen like flashlight where can fit in your pocket or belt easily and be bright but run about 10+ mins?

Flood vs thrower? Right now i own the TK75 so it would be a flood, it would be great to have a thrower..... and if you have any other great flashlights that you think would best suit me toss them at me and i will review all of them no lie!

I also heard some great things about some flashlights coming from china that is decent quality build and budget price but also some ridiculously bright ones that may suit me with my large flashlight needs. What do you guys think about the flashlights from china? i am thinking of buying all my flashlights from them since they are not too expensive and do the job? I will be buying some actual brand name ones such as Fenix but as of now i am leaning towards china sites flashlight since they suit my purpose and budge.......

Having them run 18650 batteries would be great since i have the tk75 which runs on that battery type and a charger which would benefit me greatly!

Thanks so much!

China is a large country with a large variety of flashlights.

I would not say, as a blanket statement, anything good or bad about them that would be broadly applicable...other than don't buy stuff from dealers/sellers who are not more proven....as there are an enormous number of ads for stuff that are ridiculously exagggerated.

If the ad says its really cheap, and really bright, and really well made, its a fake.

You can pick any combination of up to TWO of those three attributes, but not three at once...for any given light.

:D

The TK75 is a decent thrower, so, I'd ask how many meters of throw, with a description of what you would like to be able to see at what range...to help narrow the search for a thrower.
