Ok Ladies & Gentleman, Christmas is fast approaching and you have to run out to the mall, you know to buy last minute things.

You are walking out to your car with a cart full of goodies but you take note that your car is parked way out in left field underneath no street lights all by itself in the dark.

What light would you or do you use in this case to scan underneath the chassis of the car to make sure you are all a lone if you know what I mean?

For me it would be my Scorpion or TL-3 Xenon, both would serve well.

Oh, Merry Christmas.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i wouldn't scan @ all. *lol*

i'd also leave my car unlocked. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif
Edit: only around here tho!

I won't look first. If someone is under my truck, I will simply run them over. Ignorance is bliss as they say. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It would take a pretty skinny person to hide under my car (93 Olds Achieva SCX). And if someone were skinny enough to hide under there, I probably wouldn't feel threatened by them 'cause I'm 6'3"/325lbs. (unless thay had a gun, of course). But I rarely check under my car anyway.

Well, if my car lights weren`t bright enough for me to see them when I drove up and parked on top of them in the first place...

Guess THEY should have had a light.

It's appearent that some of you folks that posted above have a mindset of a child!

I was posting a real life scenerio that happens every year in a mall parking lot's from all over. These are facts...

If you can't contribute positively to a thread instead trying to mock it don't post!

Hmm, thats the same thing my wife and kids say about me and my flashlight purchases...

Ok, I`ll try to respond maturely...my car is a Mustang and you would have to be pretty skinny to hide under it and not get stuck.

Down here in Florida they allow dark window tinting (I have dark tint on my car too)...I would be much more worried that someone would simply park next to me...jump out and steal the goods.

So I guess if I were going to worry about it...hmm...and assuming a gun mounted X200A is not an option...a 4 "D" Mag...so I could beat the hell out of them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Dukester, I understand the intent of your original question. I guess I would use whatever flashlight I had on me at the time. I don't always EDC one though. As several people pointed out, the average car sits too low for someone to be able to hide under and jump out to attack someone. My wife's car has a neat feature called "Perimeter illumination". If it's dark outside, when you hit the remote to unlock the car or pop the trunk, it turns on all the exterior lights (headlights, break lights, reverse lights, and turn signals). If someone were crouching around the car, they'd be busted before you got too close.

I guess the point I was trying to drive across was not actually someone lying underneath the carriage of your car but as you approach your car using your torch to check for legs, you know, someone crouched a long side the opposite end or side as you approach e.g. trunk region of the car.

I'd use a SureFire M500 and M900 fitted M4 carbine and do a quick sweep under the car.........

Yeah......

So using a little humor as some of the posters did here (and still are even after your little tantrum) is "having the mindset of a child"? Ok I'll not use humor. I would not be so STUPID as to park my car "way out in left field underneath no street lights all by itself in the dark". The only light I edc is my Arc AAA premium. I enjoy the humor and the serious posts. Let me guess...you come from western Washington.

Oh, and let me guess, you have got to be a newbie! A childlike newbie at best? Almost forgot, you must come from Central Washington, right?

I would like to apologize for my caustic remarks. All I should have said is, I like the humorous and the serious posts! Have a nice day Dukester!!!!

To answer your question, an Arc LS would be sufficient to scan under your vehicle for intruders. You can get one for relatively cheap right now.. just $60 with an AA adaptor and free shipping.. see the arc forum for details.

Heck, even an arc AAA would be enough to see what's under there... if something is there, you won't be able to miss it... and unless you're carrying a large C or D cell mag, there's not much you can do to them outside of temporary blinding or quickly getting in the car and trying to run off. (perhaps you need some pepper spray .. make sure it's 5 million heat units)

I wouldn't suggest running them over because had they happen to get your licence plate (and of course they live) with America and it's millions of useless lawyers you could be faced with a lawsuit or other circumstances which might prove time consuming or frustrating for you.

Good point. Need to remember to run them over at least 2-3 times.

Actually, a good long throw would be a good idea since if you are already looking under your car, you are way too close. Therefore this season, when I'm Christmas shopping, I'm carrying my V 3MCP with me while I wear a headlamp (just in case one goes out). ok,ok,...PT surge.
