I see in the instructions and in several threads concerning the TK40 to use alkaline or ni-mhd batteries. Is there any danger in useing lithium ion batteries in it ? These are non-rechargable Energizers. Seems to be wroking fine, so far.

Not all lithium batteries are lithium-ion. Energizer's lithium primaries aren't, and should be fine in a TK40.

8xL91 AA = 13.6V
8x14500 = 33.6V

As SilentK said, if you were actually using Li-Ions, you'd already have a smoke signal instead of a flashlight.

Actually, the TK40 uses two string of a series of 4 run in parallel. So it's voltage is only from a series of 4

4 x nimh AA = 4.8v
4 x alk AA = 6.0v
4 x L91 AA = 6.8v
4 x 14500 = 14.8v

I read somewhere the max safe voltage is 6.8v. I don't know if that's from someone who has at most tried L91s and the next increment up is too risky to try. I'm not so sure what the real max is, maybe if fenix had a rep here they could help out with that kind of information.

:oops:
Shows what I know, I haven't even tried the TK40 and had forgotten that people have run it off one carrier full. The 14500s total 16.8 fully charged, though. Nearly three times the intended voltage in any case.
