Hi, I am looking for a good LED flashlight (must be LED) that has a run-time of AT LEAST 10 hours but preferably longer. IT MUST take either AA or AAA batteries, not theses fancy batteries just simple ones. It doesn't have to be super blinding bright but at least about 10 lumen for the minimum setting. I would just like a flashlight with a long runtime incase of a SHTF situation where power is out for a month or so, thanks!!

Single AAA flashlights with at least 10 lumens and 10 hrs + runtime? I can't think of any but the very popular, almost indestructible Fenix E01! :)
On a single AA there are many choices, I own and really like the Fenix LD10 R5 (11 hrs at 13 lumens). Now, when talking about AA lights, most of the multi-level lights out there can supply you with what you want, so take into account your budget, design preferences and visit the 4sevens sites, the Fenix site and Olight's one. You can't go wrong with any of them, and if you still like to look around then there's many other makers such as Zebralight, Streamlight, Inova and so on that all have good quality products.

Please note though, that 10 lumens in pitch dark is quite a lot... if I wake up in the middle of the night and turn on the LD10 in low mode (3 lumens), it is more than enough to get around the house (it hurts my eyes at the beginning)...

The MiniMag LED is a beautiful light. And it works well with the Terralux clicky tailcap, (not the I.Q. version) at least mine does, or one of the standard MiniMags, modded with one of the LED modules available, with the addition of a tailcap switch are great lights. Plenty long lasting , especialy if there are spare batteries to go with it.

Don't get me wrong; the other lights on the market are marvelous, They just don't fit my budget or needs as well as the garden-variety lights I have mentioned, and use.

There are 2xAA several lights that can get you that kind of runtime and at the same time decent brightness if you want to. Quark 2xAA, Jetbeam BA20, Eagletac P20A2 MKII to name a few.

Add more batteries and you can get more runtime and brightness.

Zebralights 51's, H or SC, will do that on single AA.

If I were you, though, especially for a SHTF light, I'd really open up your eyes (pupils?) to include multiple modes below 10 lumens. After your eyes have night adjusted, 4 lumens is plenty to do pretty much anything you want indoors and will give you like 50 hrs of runtime from a AA. In a real pinch, I could live with only 0.2 lumen moonlight, especially if coming from a headlamp.... what's 300+ hrs from AA worth to you?

Zebralight and 4Sevens are the two best manufacturer for low lumen modes and massive runtimes from a AA.

another duplicate.... (man, this site is like molasses :()

Check out the Surefire E2L-AA. 60 hours on low, extrmely well built, and runs excellent on all AA chemistries (Lithium/Alkaline/Rechargeables).

The Fenix TK41 does 11.25+ days (240 hours+) on a single set of batteries at 10 lumens... does that count? ;)

EDIT: that's a whopping 30 hours per AA battery at 10 lumens.

cheers

Yes, the Mini Maglite LED is a beautiful classic design. There is also the Maglite XL-series which is a state of the art design and even more compact. The XL50 will get you 36 hours on "low" of 50 lumens. The XL200 in its lowest steady state night light setting will get you 218 HOURS. I received the XL50 and have been trying to use up my first set of batteries and they just won't die...

Thats what I was guna say. 8 is better than 1 or 2 when you have different brightness levels and its the only one that will to 800lm :)
