long throw lights HELP???

hi,

i'm learning that LED's are good up close lights but what would be a good Mod for long throw bright lights??? in the 75'-125' range.

You need to add some more specifications, size, cost, battery requirements (rechargeable, lithium or alkaline), runtime etc.

i would like it to be in a 2D-3D size light ...would like to run alkaline (1st choice) but 123's are ok too. i also have a rechargable Maglite (mod could be done to that too)
as far as price, really doesn't matter as what i've seem here lights aren't too expensive. this one will be used everyday as a work light. run time atleast 30-40mins.

For long throw, I was suprised to see the Epilon led replacement has a very tight hot spot in a Mag 3D. It will throw a beam several hundred feet. For a cheaper alternative, the Maglite Mag-num star xenon bulbs give a pretty tight spot too.

The difference is that the Epilon will run for many, many hours where the xenon bulbs will eat the batteries quicker.

Hi Maddog,

If you want throw and brightness without getting into a complex, advanced mod, you may want to consider an incandescent Mag mod. Mags have their problems but they do throw far -- lotsa bang for the buck. If you're interested in exploring what can be done, I would suggest you start here or here.
