So that two pack pictured is the CostCo one? If you guys say it's pretty decent, I'll check it out. And two for $25, sure beats a $100 emergency light in bang for buck.

I don't think you'll be disappointed, they are very bright and are a high quality item.

I agree, and quite serviceable too. I took one apart before, and the 18650 should be easily swappable with a soldering iron.

Freeplay sells a set of three of their Sherpa flashlights that sit in a trickle charging station you can mount on the wall and leave plugged in. When the power goes off, the lights' batteries power up a blinking red led that allows you to find them in the dark. Each Sherpa is good for about 20 hours with one charge and of course if the blackout persists they can be recharged by winding. They provide usable light, not tactical light, and are rather large and heavy, but that comes with the winding feature. If you do have kids they would be great as long as they leave them in place when they are not needed and/or can find them when they are. The charging leds on the lights also provide a usable amount of nightlight type light for normal times. I got mine after a major weeks-long blackout and the sherpas are the lights I would use to poke around the house and read myself to sleep during the apocalypse (and, don't tell the family, also the ones I would pass around for others to use while holding onto my really good stuff for myself).
