looking for 2AA or 4AA flash

It's for general use. I do some hiking but nothing too serious. I have never owed a led flash light so i don't know much about different version of cree.
I've been looking at led lenser, they have focus feature which is nice, but then i heard they are over priced and the focus is full of compromises so i am not sure.
Don't want to spend too much on this about $50usd or so.
any recommendations?

I just got the 4Sevens Quark AA2 X. Great light. Very bright and floody and has 5 different levels to choose from. I went with the tactical version. I also bought some Sanyo Eneloop batteries and a charger.

thanks but my local stores don't have 4Sevens Quark. and seems like jetbeam ba 20 is a cheaper option without fancy modes and with higher lumen. how's is it compare to 4Sevens Quark AA2 X?

Can't you order from 4Sevens direct? I have been constantly ordering from them for a few years and I don't see what the problem is all about.

I have a BA20 and am pleased with it's performance. In the same category, I also have a Fenix E21 and a Ultralux 300 but I think the BA20 is the best of the three. It has a simple interface and high OTF lumens for the price. Check out the good deals to get a discount from one of the forum advertisers to get an even better price. The Quark is a jump up in price but comes with a lot more features (if that is worthwhile to you). Add in a 4 pack of Sanyo Eneloops and a charger and you are good to go!

Anyway, I would recommend Quark X AA2 or AA2 tactical too.

If you can extend your budget by about $20 that would allow you to get into Jetbeam PA40 territory.

For Christmas, I gave 3 non-flashaholic friends Jetbeam BA20 lights. I would recommend the BA20.

And they're really impressed by the output, and love the simple interface with momentary-on feature.
It's easy for them to adapt and started playing without outside the house :D

I have had the pa40 for a week an LOVE it. Perfect flood to throw
(for me) 4AA 480,220,42,6 lms. But for 39 dollars i have a sa2 eluma 2AA 220 down to 4 lm (more throw) with infinite brightness button. love em both
