I am looking for a good headlamp for hiking and backpacking. I have the features that I need narrowed down but I am just overwhelmed by the number of lights out there.
Here is what I need out of one.
1. Must have spot beam and flood. I need a spot for night hiking and a flood for camp chores.
2. Must be all LED.
3. Waterproof and shock proof.
4. Light and compact. I prefer a light that has the batteries mounted behind the light as opposed to at the back of the head. The ones with the remote battery compartment that you put on your belt or whatnot are off the table.
5. Uses common AAA or AA batteries. I want to be able to get batteries at a gas station in BFE if need be.
6. Must be current regulated.
7. Price, less than $75.
Right now, the Dlack Diamond Spot is on my list but I would like a few others to compare it to that are similar. Maybe something from Steamlight, Princton Tec and Petzl.
I know that every light has upsides and downsides. I have heard that Princeton Tec's current regulation is better than Petzls for example. I want the most modern light as buying old tecnology doesn't make any sense.
