I started my addiction to good LED lights by getting an Eagletac M3C4 3xR5 about a year and a half ago. It was recently lost, so I am looking for a replacement.

Things I am looking for:
>30k lux
runs on 18650s or is rechargable
more than 2 modes of output
batteries in parallel so it is compact
good current regulation

things I could care less about:
Price (okay, under $250)
whether switch is a Clicky or ring
how much heat builds up during prolonged runtime
 
You can get about 90k+ lux on a 2x18650 Crelant 7G5CS with Collimator head, however the batteries are serial.

If you want parallel, there's the 3x18650 version of Crelant's thrower lights, the Crelant 7G9.

Or if you would like to go for better, get Saablaster's modded Thrunite TN31! 200+k lux! :)
 
k3 illumination k40 slightly over 100 dollars with 90,000 lux and close in out put to the thrunite tn 31, or get the new u2 version of your old light the m3c4 the lux on those are about 60,000

Agreed, if you don't mind 3x 18650s then Saabluster's TN31 can't be beat.
 
One thing I forgot to mention, I would like a reflector instead of a lens for the beam focusing mechanism.
spill isn't big to me but I do want some of it.

Why not the Sunwayman T40CS.....? Its a nice 2-18650 light.

Olight SR51 2x18650 in parallel XM-L?
Sunwayman V60C 3x18650 in parallel XM-L, and continuously variable output with neck ring?
 
Out of the few 2 x 18650 throwers where the batteries are parallel (side by side,) I like the EagleTac M3C4 (with a SINGLE XML in it) the best by far. It is still one of the best XML throwers around. Your 3 x XPG M3C4 with the 3 LED's in it was quite floody compared to the single LED EagleTacs....especially the single XML. One LED will throw better than 3 LED's in the same sized head even with less lumens.

The Crelant 7G5CS and a few others in the 2 x 18650 class do throw a little better, but not a lot more. Only drawback to the Crelant and others like it (Olight M3X, Sunwayman T40CS, Thrunite Catapult, etc) are that they are long compared to the EagleTac. If that's important to you then stick with the EagleTac M3C4 single XML otherwise get the Crelant (best thrower in its class.)

The new Eagletac M3C4 single XM-L U2 version is around 63k Lux which throws a tiny bit better than my Crelant 7G5, Olight M3X and Sunwayman T40CS U2. I think this would be a good choice for you.

Make sue you buy the U2 version. The design around the LED is a little different from the older T6 version. Ny older one is 43k Lux.

I am aware my 3xR5 M3C4 isn't the best thrower around, and my current top choice is the new XM-L U2 version.
by the way, has anyone done a comparison between the M3C4 T6 and U2

Hmm I've seen t40cs u2 version hit higher then that in lux measurements
 
My lux meter under reads and is remarkably similar to Selfbuilt early meter. This made comparisons very easy for me. There are also variations with each T40CS U2. LED's are not all equal.

Other people's Lux meter might over read. This maybe one reason why some others have achieved more than 63k Lux.

I have both the older T6 and U2 Eagletac M3C4 and it easily blows the older version out of the water. I really like it because of it's compact dimensions.

So nothing is different between the 2 except higher output? I can't tell because Eagletac dosen't have much info on their new M3C4 models yet.

The U2 version has a new driver and the parts around the LED are different. It is higher in Lumens and Lux. (Output and throw).
