hey everyone this is my first post and i am really new at all of this flashlight stuff etc.I have just purchased my first flashlight!! it's an LED Lenser L6, yeah i know that everyone bags them out on this site but it seems absolutely amazing, i'm assuming this is because it's my first decent light :) so i was wondering if anyone out in the torch community could direct me as to where/ what would be a good all round flashlight that will last me a while.
any feedback would be hugellyyyy appreciated, thankyou :D

I would suggest an HDS Systems light. Their EDC Tactical model (120 lumen version, $100.00), for instance, offers, preset: 120 lumens; 15 lumens; 0.3 lumens; strobe (also programmable to your exact needs; and, the EDC Tactical is not their only model). Their prices vary from around $100.00 to $200.00, but the things are pretty much indestructible. Ultra high-quality, US-made - totally awesome. They're discussed all over CPF, with little negative said about them.

Now I just need to get one...:D
God bless,

+1 on the HDS light. I have several of them. I would also suggest a SureFire 9P with 2 X 17500 batteries and Lumens factory EO-9 bulb. Very bright! Runs long enough for most nightly chores!

First of all, Welcome!

Second; What would you like your new light to do that the LED Lenser doesn't? I have looked at the Lenser, and it seems like a very competent light.

From your purchase, it seems like you want something high-quality, and there is a confusion of manufacturers that have many good, and I might say, amazing lights to offer. Oh BOY!

My own requirements have evolved over the years. When I was young and immortal, I carried a MagLite 3D when my wife and I would go walking after dark, or we would go camping. It was, and and still is, too big. THEN, I stumbled onto CPF!! I was lost! I still have two Mag 3D's...one that I have modded with a Luxeon III, and diffusion film on the lens. The black one with the drop-in went to Tucson to a friend who works security, and needed a better flashlight.

Big Red resides in my closet until I have a need.

Last year, I took it to Glacier Park with me, along with 4 other lights... LED modded MiniMags, and my old UK 4AAeLED,all of which I fould to be more practical...except the night my puppy sensed someting, and was spooked, and my MiniMag didn't have enough throw. I also have a couple of Inova X1s, which are very nice for travel and my wife's purse light. If it only had a dimmer mode, it would be much more useful. as it is, the old hand cupping trick works fine for when I don't want to distrub others.

Sooo, I now have a MagLed 2AA, a Terralux Lightstar 220, both of which are marvelous lights: Bright, have great throw, and lower modes. But, I still wish for a lower level.

I am not enamored with strobes, or SOS...but, I think they are cute. I think my next light will be a reliable 2AA light with a good low mode, well-separated medium, and a good high, with resonable run time, or maybe a good, multi-mode 3C cell. I LOVE the Surefire E2L AA, but can't afford it.

Your needs will vary, but It is fun, trying to find "THE" perfect light...Holy Grail, hen's teeth, Shangri-La all come to mind.

And, you never know what you may need, at the spur of the moment. Years ago, we had a forum member, and he and some friends were camping at a lake . As they say, it was "A Dark and Foggy Night"... he and friends had brought along several bottles of wine, which were severely depleted, per his narrative...and he arose to answer nature's call, when he saw SOMETHING in his flashlight's beam!

Spooked him big time, although he would not actually admit it!

He was never quite able to tell us what he saw, but he definitely wanted a BRIGHTER light, so he could see it better the next time. So, you see, "needs" are subject to sudden and drastic revision! HeeHee!

Anyway; It is A Fine and Pleasant Madness: again, welcome, and good luck! Don't be a stranger.
