I guess I am not a big fan of the multi-level small lights that seem to be mainly avalable. I have currently a P1D CE fenix that is great but is wearing out on me. I have researched quite a few lights on line and on CPF and my question is: Can someone give me a short list of single stage lights that are around the same size as the PID CE.
Maybe I am old fashioned but when I pull a light out of my pocket I want it to go on and work. I really don't need or want multiple levels to deal with.
Thanks

P1 CE if you can still find one. I've got one and I sure am not letting it go!

Also, consider two-stage lights that change brightness levels depending on how far you've twisted them. For example, the Muyshondt Nautilus or Aeon, or the Nitecore EZAA. UIs such as this are my preference and they are no harder to use than a single stage light.

I explain them in detail on my guide if you need more convincing.

ITP C9 is single mode but you can select the brightness. Once selected, it always comes on at that selected level. Loosen the head to change brightness and twist tight to select. Clicky tail cap turns on and off.

NiteCore EX10 is a single mode light. It just so happens that you can also set that mode's level to anything you want, and leave it there.

Pretend the other modes don't exist on your P1D? It comes on Med and that is a good all around (maybe too bright?) level

What kind of brightness are you looking for?

Romisen RC-C3 from Shiningbeam for $25. I used to own one but mine was from DX and i sold it off (kind of regret it). I found it to be a really nice twisty light, one level only, with a nice clip too.

Thinking of getting one for EDC use cos it wont hurt at all if i lose it.

I second the ITP C9R, its a great little light with a outstanding UI, the Olight T-10 is also a great little light for EDC.

You can get a Lumapower LM33 and the forward clicky switch. This will give you only "high" mode, rated at about 90 lumens (at the emitter, I believe) with about 2 hours of flat regulated runtime. Not as bright as some, but you get that nice clean, floody SSC P4 beam.

I can also recommend the P1, a very nice single mode. It's actually smaller than the P1D. The last revision had brass threads that turn silky smooth. I still use mine; I actually used it lastnight. A P1 is a great light, sometimes simplicity trumps everything else. If the output is right for you, try to find one.

I suspect the other lights are quite a bit bigger. Just getting another P1D is not a bad idea. Keep the threads lubed and I can't see the P1D wearing out. Clean the positive contact with deoxit once in a while.

If it's in your budget and you can move to CR2 the Aeon is great. I didn't think I'd ever own a CR2 light, but if your usage is not too high the Aeon does an incredible of getting lumens and runtime out of a CR2 cell.
