I am going to turn the headlamp on and off a lot. I will use it for short task such as untangling fishing line and finding stuff in the boat. I need durability first, brightness is secondary. I am unconcerned with features.

Does anyone have experience with any of these?

Thanks for the help

Of the headlamps listed, the Surefire Saint Minimus would probably be your best bet. For some reason the list doesn't have the Princeton Tec EOS which would also be a good choice according to forum members. Do searches on the model names you are interested in to check out discussion threads on various Princeton Tec, Petzl, Black Diamond, and Surefire models (I don't remember many about Cabela's models).

Hi slimecoat.

Sounds like you are primarly looking to use this headlamp for up-close work. How far ahead do you need to see? Do you need focused light only or focused and peripheral?

Thanks for the help. I am looking for up close light. I do a lot of fishing and I need to be able to tie a knot and then look out into the dark and still see the outline of the bank in the dark. Thats what Im looking for.

thanks

I agree with I agree with Cistallus that the Princeton Tec Eos is probably a really good fit....ditto with the Petzl Tikka. Both of those are $40 or less.

There are other lights out there (including some of ours) but it depends on your budget and how far away the bank you're looking at is.
