The ARC lights come with these really strong little 3/8 inch split rings that, while hard to add anything to, sure won't let anything work its way off. Does anybody know where I can get some of these? The only ones I can find are either larger or very flimsy. I need about 20.

You can try http://www.mcmaster.com

Just search for "split ring". They have a bunch of different sizes. No idea about the quality, but they have a ring 0.38" OD with a 0.12" ring diameter. Seems pretty tough...

You can find them in many fishing stores with the fishing tackle.

The split rings you can find in some of the better sporting goods stores, in the fishing tackle area, are extremely strong and of the highest quality.

alanhuth,

Foremost, welcome to the camp.

Darell and I had a similar conversation about a year ago. If I recall, there was company out of Canada that produced black split rings and tools to put them on without tearing up your fingers.

I think he bought $20 worth but you could get more info via a search. Darell might have a user review if you'll ask nice.

The sammich shop has stainless steel split rings. Look in the shop under accessories.

I took some off of fishing lures. You can buy them at
Cabela's & The Sandwich Shoppe.

I got mine at Bass Pro Shops - Wally world may have them too. They are with the fishing lures in little bags of 10 or 20 depending on size, IIRC. Lot's of sizes.

You can also try your local locksmith. That's where I got mine.

Not to take this thread off topic but once you try a Mr Twisty key ring you'll never go back. The stainless cable flexes to the shape of your keys and pocket so it's really comfortable.

Trust me,

Eric

The Arc-AAA appear to use a size 7 split ring you can get in the fishing tackle section. They are stainless steel and do come in other sizes besides the #7. I saw them packaged four per pack for .59 cents at our local hardware store.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. You seem to have better-equipped stores in your area than I do.
