Lost Fashlight

I had a miss-half the other night while coming home from a yote hunt. Some how somewhere i lost my Wolf-eye Snipper ii flashlight 1070 lumen, which would kinda suck if i didnt love it, but turns out i did and now i feel lost without it. I know very little about flashlight and i thought the wolf eye i had was a good light but a good friend told me i could get much better with less lumen. He was speaking about a clearer light that does not filter out so much color.

I used this light just about everyday and it need to be replaced soon. I was just going to buy the same wolf-eye i had but i feel it may be smarter to ask folks that know way more than i ever will about flashlights for advice. I liked the distance of the wolf eye, i could see across fields with very little issues. I liked how it had a tight beam and it was not super wide.

As i said i know very little about light any help would be great. I would just like the option to be recommended something that is as powerful as the light i had before. i know the wolf eye had 1070 but is it possible to get less lumens and a better light?

Sorry for your loss. But yes ...better with less...sort of... the 1070 lumen rating that Wolf-Eye gave it was an over-estimation of emitter lumens. If you go to the web page for the light you will see in the specs that the FL-1 ANSI rating is a more likely 652 lumens. Even that could be stretching it a bit and there are several lights coming onto the market using the new XM-L2 which is a significant improvement over the XM-L.

Can I assume your budget would be in the same range as the cost of the Sniper II? There are several lights that throw 700+ lumens Out The Front in the same size package and for around the same price, some even less. If there was a way for me to simply transfer the knowledge I have gained here on the possibilities I would, but unfortunately there is no way to do that yet...so I would point you to Going Gear and Lighthound as places to start. They both have a good selection of lights and GG even has video reviews. Understand ...there are flashlights that truly are putting 1000 lumens out the front...and it is significantly brighter than your Wolf-eyes 400-600 actual lumens.

There are plenty of other lights I could direct you to but many of them you will find on the Going Gear site anyway and I would rather you just find what you like rather than just pointing you to the stuff I like. Marshall's site (GG) even has the ability to search using all kinds of filters for battery type, cost and even lumen rating.

really apreciate the feedback! i will check out them sites right now. good to know that the wolf eye was not a true 1070 lumens! makes me feel better about a few things.
