I watched a promo for this the other night. Has anyone else seen it? Somehow it adds extra oxygen to the water. And their claim is that the water is SO clean that it cleans surfaces better than any other product. (there was no demonstration of this particular claim).

They say it kills bacteria, but don't you put bacteria back on it when you remove it from the cleaner?

Does anyone here know anything about Ozonated water? Is this just another ruse like their 'air purifyer'?

If it actually DOES work, my thought would be that one could use it to clean reflectors or other parts instead of using alcohol. Just a thought.

Ozonated water probably=snake oil, however, using UV radiation to sterilize water is a very effective practice, people with high end, expensive aquariums often have a "UV Sterilizer" unit hooked up to the filter, it basically runs prefiltered water past a high-powered UVA tube, the UVA kills harmful pathogens and parasites

generally, most Sharper Image "Ionic" products are mediocre at best

Ozone is a valid and fairly powerful disinfectant for water. There are some commercial systems used in water plants. Basically, you use a high voltage to produce the ozone (which is O3 as opposed to the normal O2 in the air) which will kill bacteria and viruses. However, as you suspected, it does not leave a "residual" disinfecting ability for very long. It is used in water plants to get the water disinfected to start with, but then a different disinfectant has to be added to the water before it is stored and pumped to make sure the water stays clean.

Looking at that link, it may be effective in the bowl for disinfecting the surface of fruits as shown in the picture. But it's only going to get the surface bacteria that the water actually reaches. And if the water is used immediatly after production it may retain enough disinfecting ability to be better than plain tap water. But the idea of keeping a spray bottle full for later use would probably be useless. Any ozone in the water initialy would quickly decompose back to normal O2, and you would be left with plain tap water.
