I'm looking at the possiblity of building a few area lights with a premium-bin XR-E apiece, but I'm having trouble finding drivers that will provide outputs low enough... they're going to be for long power-outages. I'm thinking 3-modes spaced between 6 and 100 lumens... maxing out at 320mA or 350mA, anyway. Anybody have any suggestions? Am I better off with a 4-position switch and 3 different resistor values? I kind of would like to use a driver since they need to work with 4D alkalines and I would want to get as much power out of the cells as possible if necessary. Any suggestions?

What are you using for a power source? If its under 5v, you can use these drivers and just take two of the 7135 chips off for 350mA on high, with dimming and other functions.
