Anyone tried this combination? What kind of beam do you get, compared to a McFlood with a low dome? I ask this, as it seems from what ive read about luxeons, the high domes generally have a better(whiter) colour than the low domes.

I use the McFlood with a 5W white Lambertian in a 3x123 McLux. The emitter is a W2 and is bright and white, but the die placement is so far off center, it's impossible to get any kind of a decent beam using an optic..

The McFlood has turned this Lumiled's poop quality emitter into something that can now be used.

As far as Lambertians being whiter than Batwings, that's not true in my opinion. But if you really believe that, I have some "white" Lambertians to sell you... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have 3 white 1W Lambertians that I bought from Future. They won't give you a bin code unless you get the whole reel, so I don't know what it is. If I were guessing, I think they were color bin 2 most likely..

Comparing them against the (known) Q2H & Q2K batwings I have, they are NOT any brighter or whiter.. I suppose I'm being a bit "snobish" by comparing these Lambertians to high quality Batwings, but the point I was attempting to make is that bin code determines color more so than lens configuration (be they Batwing or Lambertian).

I'll also qualify my statements by telling you that I have only owned a total of 5 white 1W lambertians - which really isn't too large of a sample rate.. I just have never been too impressed to really start using them in my mods.

..and yeah, I'd sell'em, but that wasn't really what I was trying to emphasize by saying that..
