LSH - P tail switch problems

I bought an LSH - P about two months ago, and have just thoroughly loved it. It struck me, however, that the only weak point of the design seemed to be the tailswitch, which did not appear to be as robust and well made as the rest of the flashlight; I would have preferred a twist tail cap.

At any rate, the tailswitch soon began to have problems. Sometimes I'd click, but the light wouldn't come on. Sometimes the light would flicker if the tailswitch was bumped.

It's gotten progressively worse. At the moment, nine out of ten attempts, the light will not stay on unless I keep the switch pressed.

Obviously I'm not happy about this. Any suggestions for a fix? Or is my only hope to change the tailswitch?

Yes! I went through the tutorial, step by step, and was able to fix my problem. Which turned out to be a major crud build up, inasmuch as the battery apparently leaked at some point in time (but continued functioning). So I scrubbed and scraped, and now my LSH - P is working again.

Thanks to latin classes back in school I get around text books for most roman languages /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Anyway, you mentioned that the cell seemed to have leaked which is quite unlikely for lithium cells and got me a bit worried. What brand did you use ?

the only flashlight that i bought in Italy is a Minim@g Camo , for Arc and SF i have found the best prices in USA, but the shipping it's not cheap !

Good job vlights, you definitely got the jist of it. Don't worry, though, you're not intruding on a private conversation. We're just a having a little fun with a language that doesn't get a lot of air time on the internet.

Marco - I live in Pesaro. I'm American, but have been in Italy since 1986. With regard to buying over the net, well, I've had a lot of luck buying directly from Arc. It only costs $20 to ship Fed Ex and, for whatever reason, the packages don't seem to get stopped in customs. The SF stuff is more of a problem. I've gotten some SF stuff from Toolshop, which isn't too bad. It's more expensive than buying from the US, but much less expensive than buying in Italy. Plus, shipping is free and you also don't have to worry about customs hassles.

Oops, sorry Chris, I just now noticed your post. The battery that leaked was the Duracell 123 that came with my Arc LSH - P. Dunno why, I guess that stuff just happens every once in a while.

the crud that built up could have been fouling due to electrical sparks or oxidisation too though...i've never seen a lithium battery leak /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
