Random and probably in the wrong area to put this, but, is there anyone else around here in the Lubbock Texas area?

I have a daughter going to Texas Tech but I'm 360 miles away in Temple. That is a pretty long drive. One of these days I'm going to plan a weekend stay and stop overnight somewhere in between Abilene and Lubbock with my telescope. Too much light around Temple. I miss the dark skies of my childhood.
