My digital camera doesn't have a long exposure mode, but it does have a movie mode. Although the movie mode is only 30 seconds in length, would it be recommended to try shooting it in movie mode and edit the movie for that one great shot?

Noup, the movie mode frame rate is too slow to capture the bolt.



It is almost impossible to get these shots with a sub $1000 camera. You need to have an SLR, digital or film.

What Exposure Time and F/Stop were you using?

As a matter of fact this was done on the sensia 400 film with 24mmm at f/2.8 handheld at 1/30. I knew that lightings were frequent and fired 36 shots one after another. I got 3 or 4 lucky shots.
