Luminox Marine?

Hi all. I'm brand new to this forum and it seems like a great place to get/share info on watches. I'm seriously thinking about buying a Luminox Marine Stainless like this one:

Anyhow, I was wondering if any of you own this watch and can tell me what you think of it. Thanks!

I have the same movement in a different case. I have been very happy with it.

Some folks have had problems but mine has been perfect.

I'm glad to hear you like yours. I'd love to be able to see one "in person", but there doesn't seem to be a store anywhere near me that carries them. I'd like to see the actual size because I have thin wrists, and big watches look goofy on me. I'd also like to see the clasp of the Marine model. None of the pics on-line show the clasp. I really like the looks of the Luminox, but it's a lot of money. I just want to make sure it's a good purchase. Sometimes a $40 Timex from Wal-Mart doesn't sound too bad! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have this exact model, and I love it! It is a very comfortable watch, and the trasers are VERY bright, so it is comfortable on the eyes, too. And the finishing is very nice. It looks like a lot more expensive product than it is. It is a little heavy compared to my other watch, but that one is titanium, so I guess I have lost perspective on weight. I don't really notice it once it is on.

I have a Traser equipped genuine mil-spec issue watch (SandY 590) that uses the Ronda 715 movement (which I believe is the same movement in this watch).

I just took a look at the entire Luminox line at a shop and also contacted Traser in the UK directly (exact same watches, different name on the dial) because the Luminox line does not have the one model I want (S1300). (It's a 'copy' of the mil-spec model I have with a couple of nice improvements.)

Traser confirmed they will sell me that model even though I live in the "Luminox region."

The watch you show a pic of looks even better in person, and has a very nice feel, but it is HEAVY and LARGE. It was too big for my wrist.

Tomas, I'm a little concerned by what you wrote about the size of this watch. From what I can tell, it's actually one of the smaller men's watches that Luminox has out. I think it was 38mm instead of 40mm like the bigger ones. That's one of the reasons I liked it. I have thin wrists. Are you sure the one you saw was this one? I'm a little worried now, because my purchase will be through the internet (site unseen).

I have the regular luminox in the stainless steel case. Still going strong. People will notice it, it is quite large. The downtown diamond district on The Bowery in NYC has a vendor that sells them. He also has the Tissot T touch.

I bought my O & W from Roy. The Trasers will cost you more than the US distributed Luminox.
Bought my Luminox for Botach.

I too have thin wrists so I have replaced the standard strap with a smaller kevlar one.

Great pictures! Thanks for doing that. It is a big watch, but from what I can tell, it doesn't seem a great deal bigger than my current one. If you measure the watch to the outside edges of the case from the 10:00 position to the 4:00 position, (no band or crown area) how many millimeters would you say that is? I like the look with the kevlar strap you have. If I don't like the original band, I may do the same.

I make it 38mm.

My current watch is 36mm at that point. I think I could get used to a 38. The watch I have now is a Citizen titanium, which has been a great watch. It's supper light, keeps perfect time, and is very comfortable. My biggest complaint is that it has gold-tone accents in the band and around the face which have all mostly worn off, leaving a $300 watch looking cheap. It was beautiful when it was new. No more gold tone accents on a watch for me unless it's real gold! (And I don't have that kind of money) I like the stainless of the Luminox Marine.

Have you ordered/paid for your watch yet ?

If not take a look at Meridian Tactical They are currently selling the Luminox Marine range for $189. Also they are a CPF sponsor with very good feedback in the "Cheers N Jeers" forum.

No, I haven't ordered it yet. I was actually thinking of getting it through www.lapolicegear.com because of their price and warranty. They have the watch for $179, plus they offer a two year warranty instead of the standard one year. They claim to have their own certified watch repair center if you need work done. I've asked around, and most people seem to have good things to say about them.

Yeah, it's the best price I've seen for it yet, plus the extra year warranty is a bonus. I emailed them a question a while back, and they got back to me within a few hours. That's a good sign.
