Why does the SFT-70 have a black spot in the center of the hot spot on a close up? If I put light within 6 inches of something, the center is hollowed out and has a dark spot? is this normal for this emitter?
fenix pd36r proWhich light is this? I am considering the SFT-70 myself, in both an Emisar (DA1K) and / or Convoy (M21A) light.
that’s why i’m asking, if it’s the emitter or possibly just the optic/reflector of this particular light. The SFT-70 is a quad-die package, and so may have a distinct 4-lobed beam (with a dark cross or hole in the middle), depending on the optic used
Beam shape is a function of both the source and the optical system. The same source under different optics will give different beams, and the same optic with different sources will give different beams. As an example, here's a narrow beam optic on a variety of LEDs: https://www.ledil.com/product-card/?product=FCN13552_CRYSTAL-RS Note the beam shape of the XHP50 (another quad-die package) compared to the single die packages.that's why i'm asking, if it's the emitter or possibly just the optic/reflector of this particular light.
