HI guys.
Tonight My family asked me to go on a short walk so in preparation I pulled out an old favorite which is under utilized by me it was a Lunasol 27.
Here is the thing before Don produced the Lunasol 20 he made the 27.
What a light it is. For some reason it gets very little play out here so I figured I would talk about mine for a minute.
For one thing before the Lunasol 20 came out the 27 was my edc . Yes I EDC'ed it on a Lanyard around my neck.

The beam is wonderful with a more defined hotspot than the "20".
The Lunasol 27 is a little brighter too.
The only reason I edc the 20 over the 27 is size of the head.
There is a difference between the tints of the Low beams. Neither is better than the other in any significant way.
I completely prefer the beam of the Lunasol 27. Mine has a creamy white beam vs the colder bluish beam of the Golden dragon in the Lunasol 20.

The action is sooo smooth and requires a shorter push of the button to engage the beams. the Lunasol 20 required a little smoothing of the cylinder so smooth the feeling of the action out the Lunasol 27 came out of the box as a precision unit.
I am lucky to say that I have 2 of these and it will be unlikely that I get rid of one of them any time soon.
They are rare I guess.

IMHO the Lunasol 20 is a top drawer tool grade flash light and it is my edc.
I plan on working one of my lunasol 27's into the two light rotation.
My Lunasol 27 is just TOO GOOD to ignore in its AOTH case.

Back when these came out I had no idea that don was working on the 20 and felt so strongly about the coolness of the Lunasol 27 that I had to have a backup. That's why I have 2 of them. Of Course I did the same thing when the Lunasol 20 came out.
The point is that while the Lunasol 20 is a tremendous flashlight so is the Lunasol 27. I am Happy to own both and lucky too.
If you have a Lunasol 27 break it out stick a new battery into it and take it out for a walk. I suspect that you will realize that you have been missing your Lunasol 27 without even knowing it.

I say again if it has been a while break out your old friend and power it up.
Enjoy yourself.

I agree LS27 is such a wonderful light.
The only thing the LS20 is better for me, is its size for carrying.
Other than that, I prefer LS27 much more in its beam quality, tint, and the feel in my hand.
I feel quite a weight when LS27 is around my neck, so I tend to put it in my shirt pocket when it's around my neck. :twothumbs

Okay, I just got a Lunasol 27, and I have to say I am amazed with this light. As soon as I took it out of the mail and popped a battery in it I fell in love with the dual beams of this light (like my first love, the A2). When I took it out for a spin in the forest I knew this light was something special. The really flood is incredible and extremely usable and being able to kick into a throwy high beam makes the 27 a real charmer.

I have doubts that it can replace my PD-S Mizer as an EDC but I can see myself getting a lot of good use out of this light. It is just brighter than I need or want in an EDC light, but still an incredible workhorse.

I am really lucky to be able to own now three of McGizmo's lights and I hope to continue to have a McGizmo light in my pocket for the rest of my life. Both my PD-S's look beat up and well loved and I'm sure in time my LS27 will as well.

Did someone say LS 27 ? Needless to say it's the most useful light I have. Use it every day ( I mean night ) but I have a different twist ( no pun intended ) I have the stealth model. You know, that's the model with a black rubber ring about 3/8" thick ( rounded corners of course ) that slips over the bezel and protrudes slightly over the end to protect the head if it were bumped, and the ring gives better stability when standing on end whereby the bezel doesn't touch the surface, only the rubber ring. I also twist the head using the ring, which makes for a very easy turning action.

To further protect the light from bumps or drops and to make it even stealthier, I wrapped the remaining titanium in thick rubber electricians tape, sort of adding more tape to contour to my hand where needed. The reason I've gone to this extent, is that I carry the light around my neck using an old camera strap. The light tends to swing as I walk ( it's usually on and makes a nice lantern ) so wrapping it leaves me free not to worry about dinging it on something. Furthermore, now my light doesn't even look like a light, or maybe it does but a ruggedized one. It doesn't look like a high end light ( I'm actually glad it doesn't ) but we all know what's hiding underneath. BTW, I didn't tape the head to the body. I can unscrew the head just like normal.

I wish I could post a pic. I think you would like the stealth model. IMHO there are many advantages of having a ruggedized stealth LS27. The last two reason I made a stealthy light, is because the Ti gets really cold. The black rubber tape serves an an insulator. The other reason is that now the light is very grippy and secure in my hand. It has grown on me to the extent if I revert the light to original it doesn't look or feel right.....and it's pretty darn cool.

End of story.

Yeah, definitely I'd like to see some pic's. :)

I have to admit, I have been trying to keep my LS27 pristine but I do love the look of well-used, pocket-worn Ti things.

My Ti PD-S is all dinged and scratched up already (got it in September) and it just seems to get better and better.
