I have been thinking that I would like to replace the dome light in my car with a Luxeon based dome light. Anyone here have any experience with this? Tip?

Somebody in CPF told about the swinging volt from car. Some time it rise to 14-15 volt. They use LM317 to control the current comeout to safe use with luxeon.

I second the link on the George80 dome light, if your car can take it. It requires a dome light holder that connects via the points on the end (like my toyota). If your dome light is fastened via 2 U shaped clips that the light slips into (Like my Honda Accord), then it is not a straight plug-n-play. It will require some thought to get it to fasten in. But, I really like the unit in my Corolla.
