Hello,

This is my 1st post on your forum.
I hope I won't ask too many dumb questions.

Last night I finished testing my first LED project.
I had to solder each led to mcpcb, this is was an insane job, for me, I had a success rate of 11 out of 12:

Few questions, please:

1. What cheap dimmer do you recommend for this Xitanium/Fortimo driver:

Fortimo 39W Dimmable LED Driver Module for DLM LLM & SLM
Max. Output Power: 39 W
Input Voltage: 120 ~ 277 V
Output Current: 200 ~ 700 mA (adjustable by a resistor)
Output Voltage: 25 ~ 56 V
Min. Power Factor: 0.9
IP rating: IP20
Isolation: Class 2
Auxiliary 12 V output for active cooling
Negative temperature coefficient thermistor pin
Dimming Method: 0-10 V
Dimming Range (%): 100% ~ 10%


2. What's the maximum numbers of Rebel ES lxml-pr02 that can be powered with this driver without a dimmer?

That's the only info I have about the LED:
FPN: LXML-PR02
MFR CODE: LML
CPL: 005
CLASS: 6H

3. Right now, there are only 11 LEDs (series) mounted, and no other component. I'd like to add few more, meantime, is it OK to run them like that without a dimmer?

#2. The Rebel ES is 3-3.25v and your driver outputs up to 56v. 56v/3.25v= 17 LEDs. But, you'll lose voltage with wiring runs. So, up to 17 but most likely less(14-16). And, it depends on the current that you decide on since LED voltage will vary with current/heat/...

It makes sense. Is there any danger in driving less LEDs than optimal with this driver without a dimmer? Thanks
 
Do you guys know if the DimRight 9005 + a triac dimmer are good enough for this driver?

Not sure about the dimmer issue since I dislike and don't use dimmers. You should send an email to the driver manufacturer to see if they can make recommendations for dimmer brands/types....

Notice the output voltage of your driver, 25v-56v.... 25v/3= 8.33..... So, 8-17 LEDs is a good range for that driver. You should check with the manufacturer's data/info/sales sheets to see what the 'most efficient' LED count is. Too many or too few might throw efficiency out the window and a different driver might be a better option.

The manuf. recommends 0-10V dimmer and it recommends few wallbox dimmers. The only one from that list that I found so far is made by Leviton and it's $60. The cheapest 0-10V dimmer I could find but it's not on that list is the A019 dimmer:
