A question for anyone who has purchased white 1W Luxeon batwings in the past couple of months. Does it appear that Lumileds is now using the improved phosphor application process on the batwing emitters that they employ on the lambertians?

while i have no idea to the answer...i'd like to say, why not?

as we have heard nothing to suggest this...i'd think no...but if the technology is there, and the only real difference is in the dome...then i'd think yes...

basically, my guess is no

Gee, hasn't anybody bought a white LD lately? If you can clearly see the outline of the die it is the new process. If you see just a blob of yellowish phosphor it is the old process.

I have a recent white LD - But I don't have an old one for reference.

I'll try to dig up my macro lenses for my Olympus digital and take a closeup picture...
