I have a couple Surefire Lux V L2's. Without changing out the driver, I know that a MC-E (2s2p) is a nice upgrade to the Lux V. Is there anything new out there that is more efficient than the MC-E that will work well with the L2 driver?

The advantage of these is that they are already internally wired for 2s2p (the 6V version) or 4s (the 12V version). The 6V Cree XML-EZW should be a nearly perfect upgrade for your SureFire L2's - one CPFer already has an XML EZW in his LuxV SureFire U2.
From what I understand, another advantage of going this way (besides the slightly greater lumens/watt and lower Vf of the EZW compared to the MC-E) is that the Cree XML-EZW shouldn't have the reflector/focus/spacing issue that the MC-E's have in the LuxV lights.
However, if the EZW's aren't available pre-mounted on 'stars', you'd need to make sure that you have a good plan for attaching the XML EZW to the SF heatsink.
Please send me a PM if you decide to do this, as I have 1-2 lights that I need to do this with as well - perhaps we can pool our resources to get a batch of lights modded at the same time.
