M4 with M3 head, can u do it?

I was wondering if you could put an M3 head unit on one of those M4 devastator units? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am a big surefire flashlight fan, and am new to the forums. I have 4 handheld lights, E2e, 3P, 6P, and carry a 9P on duty, and have a M500a on my AR.

i think it would fit, but the beam would be out of focus because the lamp assemblies used in the turbohead bezels are different in length. i'm not entirely sure so don't take my word for it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I was just wondering, because I like the 4 battery slim body version, but the turbo head would be way to big for me to carry! I was thinking of an M3, but dont like the rubber ring on the body!!!!

You would be definitely be overdriving the bulb with the additional cell of the M4. The physical connection might be okay, but I don't know about the electrical situation.

Illuminatingbikr is on the mark. The M3 and the M4 have the same head. The bulbs are different because the voltages are different. You can check out the lamp assembly numbers at the SF site.

The "Millennium" body-to-bezel threads are the same for the M3, M4 and M6 (and also the M500A, M900A etc)

This means that the M3 bezel (Z46H) will fit on the M4 body (and it also fits on the M6 too.

This also means that the "Millennium TurboHead" is the same on the M3T, M4 and M6 - the Lamps are different.

The M3 and M3T Lamps (MN10/11 & MN15/16) are designed and intended to be powered by three SF123As.

The M4 Lamps (MN60/61) are designed and intended to be powered by four SF123As.

Overdriving the M3 Lamps by powering them with four SF123As in the M4 body will dramatically reduce the life of the lamps and could result in the bulb exploding.

You have the ability though to use a Z20 "blank" SF123A in an M4 so that you'll only be powering the M3 lamps in the M3 bezel using three SF123A batteries.

Thanks for not calling attention to my mistake. The M3 and M4 do not have the same heads. It is the M3T and M4 heads that are alike.

The KL2 and KL6 do not like running on the M4. Please do not run the KL2 or KL6 on the M4. Thanks.
The KL2 and KL6 will run on the M6.

TurboHeads are my bag. Did I show you any photos?

I never really thought about that. So that means that you can put a non-turbohead M3 bezel on an M6? I'd imagine that would give super runtimes with the standard M3 bulbs. Have any pics of that setup?
