Hi everyone,

Im sure this has been asked before but i have searched and the amount of info is overwhelming, i realised recently that ive never owned a maglite, for the price id rather get a led light instead, my current favourite is the romisen rc-g4 running 2 16340's, its always the first light i grab when i need some light lol.

Ive been thinking of getting a 2d mag and running it on 6x aa nimh using kai adapters,

My question then is, for maximum brightness without having to change the reflector and lense which bulb is the best?

Ive been looking at the 6 cell xenon, and the 5 cell xenon that maglite produce?

Which one out of the two would be best for my intentions listed above, also if it matters i prefer throwy lights over floody type lights,

Also is there any other bulbs that require no modifications to a stock mag that would be brighter than maglites own offerings?

Runtimes are not important to me as ive never used a light for more than 30 min's at a time anyway.

Any info would be appreciated and if anyone has any beamshots of the 5 cell xenon vs the 6 cell xenon in a 6xaa configuration that would be excellent.

thanks vinny:thumbsup:

p.s. im in the u.k. if it matters for purchasing bulb's etc.

I'd suggest making a 2D mag into a ROP by using 2 X 18650 batteries in a pvc tube, take the spring out of a cheap flashlight and cut it to fit, replace the reflector with aluminum and add a glass lens. Pelican sells bulbs for it's Big D lamp that are overdriven nicely in this set-up.

IMR 18650 cells are even better!
