Mag 4D... What more??

I got a Mag 4D and put a 3 cell bulb into it. It's much whiter and brighter! Is there anything else i can do to make it brighter that's relatively easy to do?

I don't know about more bright, but the beam can be cleaned up a LOT by using Writeright film intended for B&W PDAs.

I have also heard of using magic tape, clear book cover film, and of course the very best thing I've used so far... Acrylite!!! See the BST Lights forum (page 2 last night).

Bad idea to pop in an extra 123 and run a 5 or 6 cell bulb?

If you mean mixing liths and alkies, yes. That's generally acknowledged to be a bad idea. Will it blow up instantaneously, probably not, but you wouldn't want to run the lith into reversal and either cause it to blow or load your tube up with hydrogen. And I suspect the lith would go before the alkies because it has a much lower Ah capacity than alkie Ds.
