Hello, I wanted to know if anyone would be able to measure a D mag head for me please. I would like to find out measurement for the diameter of the head just above the threads, where it gets bigger. Also the depth from that ledge above the threads to the bottom of the lense.
I lack a suitable and precise measureing instrument atm.

Also, can anyone recomend a caliper brand/model that has a depth measurement on it also? Digital or dial is fine, will just need my glasses for the dial. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Edit : I forgot to ask for the same information for the C head also please, and the ID of the body at the top where the switch is.

Well first the things that Im sure I understand what your asking.

D Mag ID at top:1.349
C Mag ID at top:1.033

Ok If im understanding what you want correctly is the ID of the head above the threads.
D mag: 1.902
C mag: 1.901

Depth from ledge to bottom of lense:
D mag: 0.765
C mag: 1.080


These measurements are from the newer mags with the battery size letter preceding the serial number.

Opps,
I missed something. On that depth from the ledge to the bottom of the lens add 0.052 to each one of those measurements. I didnt account for the lip on the reflector
before.

Re 'cheapo dig. caliper'.. I have a starrett dig. caliper..probably worth $300 it displays to the 10000th of an inch.. guess what.. compared to my analog micrometer.. the accuracy suuucks.. so.. spend $15 on one that will definitely 'do the job'.. especially if you use the same tool to measure.. but if you need real accuracy.. i.e. if you make a part for somebody else.. than it's more important.. use a mic. vs a caliper.
