Why are there so many Mag's used as hosts?

What do you do about the switch mid-body?

Are the lens naturally watertight for diving?

There must be some reason to use a Mag as a host?

Are Mags ever modified as hand-held dive lights as opposed to cannister?

Relatively Cheap, Solid Metal Tubing, local off the shelf availability

Cutting the tube down or switch to a IP68 switch

Not really, though it's a simple swap and extra o-ring

Need more?

Yes, either or... canister to me is about power and duration...

I built my first mag mod for diving when the TerraLux bulb first came out using info from pcmus.com as a starting point, 6 months later I found CPF ;-)

Because they are cheap and easy to mod and have a good sized head that takes a MR16 sized reflector/ optic/drop in.

Cut the switch section out.

Yes. But not to any real depth

Yes. See answer #1

Yes.
