I like having a few projects going at once and I was given a maglite for free today, directly by my mom, indirectly by a neighbor.
He knew I loved flashlights, lasers, and tother things since he has seen me doing beamtests for years.
He just got his own little Surefire light and nolonger needed his "puny" 2d maglite because it was so dim. Now I posses it.
I've decided to put my super light on hold, I just don't have enough time to work on it and I wouldn't be doing the actual machining for a few months anyways so my job, learning, and other projects come first.
I want to upgrade it and to make it truely bright.
LEDS: I'm thinking 3xXML2-U2 directly soldered to a copper heat sink which will extend through the handle and include the switch.
Reflector: A triple XML reflector.
Driver: H6CC
Batteries: A 4s pack of Lipo cells. I haven't decided which ones yet.
I would like a decent amoutn of through, not a throw monster, but something that can ligth up a house 100m out. A few lights I build absolutly lack throw .
I'm planning on driving it at 5 amps.
With a large copper heatsink I should get atleast 6 minutes of runtime before it is too hot to hold comfortable, and I could just add a small micro and thermistor to decrease the output when it got to 75C.

I've been looking for lipo cells that would fit in a maglite tube and I haven't found many.
I'm leaning towards using 8 of these cells:
