My poor AAA cells are going through their initial burn-in (literally) after having been equalised in sixpacks through some slow charge and discharge cycles. I am training a dozen of them on the 12v, 100watt Blitz long life bulb. They stand fast at around 10-11v if I would trust my DMM. Max bursts of one minute before the battery overheats. The light is quite white and bright. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Why not? This is CPF, nothing here makes any sense. Look around you, this is all lunacy.

Now back to spotlights that I'll never need.

I don't think I want to answer that until you have fixed your server so I can see your photon phantom pics.

I have tested the longlife bulb to around 16v. I think I will be able to use the high output bulb in this application, since the voltage drop to below 12v seems almost faster than the filament warmup. Blasted a wall wart trying to charge the 12-pack at .5A, but I found a replacement that seems to work.

The computer psu's doesn't seem to work without a mobo attached, is there any way to override this?

Whoa! Such abuse of the batteries and bulb...in true flaming hot wire tradition. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I miss the old graemlins.

These cells get better and better.

On the third rundown they held over 11.3v for over a minute, when i turned off the light due to cells overheat.

[/ QUOTE ] Short the green and the black wires in the ATX plug with a paper clip or short wire. If your PSU has a smart fan, this'll also make the fan run at full speed.

some kinds of switching power suplys need a minimum load to work/not die. If you get it to work, you should keep a load on it, or remove power to the PS before disconecting the battery.

As mentioned, a lot of PSUs require a load (often on the 5v output, usually about 1 amp) in order to operate. A classic load is a 6v automobile bulb that draws close to 1 amp. That lasts a very long time at 5v, and most people can figure a way to make use of the light. Driving 6v fans might be just as good, if you can find any.

... ok nuff said. hehe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

I am surprised they could handle that for multiple times, I guess anything is worth a try. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't get it...Magmamoth?!

[/ QUOTE ]

Magmamoth is an off spring of Mothra, nemesis of Godzilla and the benevolent Goddess of Infant Island; a small island located in the South Pacific. She is also the Goddess of the Earth as well as the entire Cosmos. She protects her followers on Infant Island and even her non-followers on the rest of the planet against threats from other sectors and galaxies such as King Ghidora, and against common threats such as Godzilla.

Mothra resembles a giant butterfly or moth, giving her a delicate and benign appearance. Beneath that appearance however, is sheer power. Mothra has several deadly powers at her call, including the ability to shed deflective and poisonous scales from her wings, the ability to fire electricity from her wings and antennae, and in a later form; the ability to fire three lasers from her forehead, and the ability to fire a blast of energy from her feet. She also has the ability to morph into battle forms such as Aqua Mothra and Silver Mothra.

So I would think MagmaMoth has unique powers also that Ail is yet to unveil.

I thought Magmamoth was the Norse god of pickled herring. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
