Magnetic rotary switch

I've got a project that I'd like to include a magnetic rotary switch (probably 4 position), similar to what's on these flashlights:

Lots of Google-ing hasn't revealed much, aside from those two flashlights.

Yes, I'd like to contact the OPs of those threads, but as I'm a "new member" I'm barred from doing that at the moment.

Here's a rough idea of the characteristics I have in mind:
*20-30mm inner diameter
*aluminum or stainless steel (preferably not plastic!)
*4-position, 360* rotation

What's your expertise? Can you design circuits? Write code? Machine parts? What part of the design do you need help with?

What power levels are you talking about? Is it LED, Incan, HID? Based on the forum you posted in, I'll assume it's handheld and battery powered.


I built a light with a switch like this, and I'm in the middle of a mod to another one.

My current project has (I hope) 3 on positions with an off region between each of them. It fits in 0.8" diameter, which is just over 20mm. It will drive a single LED to 3A from a single LiIon battery, and will require some heatsinking to the case. How does your project compare to that?
