I've several older Maglites which have the larger diameter bodies and I don't want to have to chuck them out as they are all in reasonable condition. However, the Malkoff drop-ins are designed for the newer Mag bodies with the C or D before the serial numbers. I wrote to Gene to ask if you could make a copper or alloy sleeve to compensate for the larger diameter and he said he didn't have any details of how to do it but had heard that some folks have done this. My question therefore is have any of you guys done it and if so can you supply details or pics and let me know how successful?

Cheers!

I would buy the Malkoff and wrap aluminum foil around it until it fit snugly in the old mag.

I bought a 3D Malkoff drop in not knowing the older Mags were a different size. I ended up cutting the reflector at the point I had a good beam. I know I can't focus it, but the reflector holds the drop in, in place. The little foot that is supposed to hold it was'nt long enough, in an old Mag light.

A spacer might be nice if it does'nt cost much.
