Malkoff vs others (Output)

IIRC the M60 hotspot & throw is ~same as E2DL - but spill is much better?

P.S. meaning the latest versions for both

Does Malkoff make any P60 drop-ins that have multiple levels?

No, but if you can get your hands on a dual-level swithc ring when they are in stock on the site, they make for a great light. It is actually my preferred UI in my "bump in the night" light. It is one (BRIGHT) stage, with an available low if needed....but that I can never accidently turn on the wrong level.

That sounds good. Thanks for the info.

It sure is for me. I'm waiting for my recently ordered first p60 host to arrive from Hong Kong and, in the meantime, am searching for a neutral drop in with a "buttery" smooth beam like you described the M61 to have, but I also really want it to have 3 modes with memory as well, (and also can't really afford to drop $69 on it right now). But some day I'm sure I will get one though.

well, Thrunite's 1.5A XP-G would probably be perfect...their 1A is no slouch either. both are approx $35. the 1.5A is in my C2 w/ a sharper reflector as i mentioned earlier and it's output and capability is right up there w/ most of my high output lights. the 1A is nice because the low and middle modes are capable of covering a wide range of applications whereas the 1.5A pill's low and mid modes are hardly discernable. not sure why they did it that way.

Just remember that the ring works with the MD2 so if you want dual modes, get the MD2 turnkey kit.

Kind of late in the thread but I love the quality of the Malkoff's I had a bunch of old Surefire G2's and a 6p that I've converted. I got some of the low levels for the nitrons (the flood version)but they are still light years ahead of the original Surefire bulbs. I've had an older led conversion that isn't near the quality of the Malkoff. I bought the Malkoff's on the monthly special which made the switch a little easier on the wallet.

Thanks for the recommendation. Don't want to derail the thread any further but I will look around for more info on those.

Hardest thing is deciding which modules goes into which host. I've only 3 6P's and 1 MD2 but 7 modules. Do I go with long run-times in all host or just 3 and 1 really bright one? Been switching back and forth so much that I'm getting a headache, so the only remedy I can see is getting more hosts. Now do I go for the new twistie in 123 and AA when they come out? Great, more decisions.

Seriously, I have only tried one module other than a Makloff and I was disappointed. Brightness was there, but quality control was sorely lacking. I'm glad that I found CPF and the discussions of Gene's products. I'll continue to purchase his products.
